Rifle High seeks girls hoops coach

Print Comment
RIFLE , Colorado — For a second straight year, Rifle High School will be using the basketball offseason to find a new girls head coach.

Last year, the Bears never found a suitable candidate, and coach Brad Skinner stepped back in for a second season a few months after trying to retire.

This time, Skinner wants to leave the post for good. In two years of varsity head coaching experience, he led the Bears to a 28-17 record.

Under Skinner, Rifle made the Great Eight in 2007 and nearly upset Golden — a team led by all-state guard Cassie Lambrecht — in the second round of this year’s 4A state playoffs.

Skinner said he has no complaints about his time at Rifle. It’s just that, after 20 years of coaching at various levels, he doesn’t want to do it anymore.

“I had what most coaches would call a dream season as far as interaction with parents and the kids,” Skinner said. “I have no complaints. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

A listing on CHSAA’s website directs prospective candidates to contact Rifle High School athletic director at 625-7739 or at mgreen@garfieldre2.k12.co.us if interested.
