HENDERSON, Colorado - Reigning Colorado State High School Rodeo Association all-around cowboy Cody Miles continues down the road to a state championship in multiple events.

At the Adams County Superstars Rodeo in Henderson last weekend, Miles racked up more points toward his high all-around standing.

The bull riding event saw Miles split third and fourth place on Saturday. He's currently parked at second place statewide in the event.

Miles, a Grand Valley High School senior, continued to light up his strongest event, steer wrestling, in which he took second place on Saturday and third place on Sunday. He's still the statewide leader in the year-to-date standings.

A sixth-place finish in calf roping further augmented Miles' all-around points mark.

Rifle High School senior and Little Britches competitor Lindsay Jewell made the trip to Henderson worthwhile by grabbing a second-place finish in pole bending with a nearly flawless run in the indoor arena. Jewell is 34th statewide in those standings.

The state's leading pole bender, Rifle senior C.J. Vondette, nabbed a fifth- and second-place finish in that event at Henderson. Vondette slid from the top spot to the No. 2 position in barrel racing, however, and she currently holds sixth statewide in the girls all-around standings.

In addition to the CSHSRA rodeos, Colorado sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders also competed in Henderson over the weekend in Colorado Wrangler Junior High Division rodeos.

Two-time nationals qualifier Devon Conn, a Rifle eighth-grader, captured the girls breakaway roping average with third- and second-place finishes in that event. The solid runs moved her to fourth position statewide.

Conn also nailed down a seventh-place finish in ribbon roping with partner Ty Wallace of Collbran and took seventh in barrel racing. Conn is currently in fourth place statewide in ribbon roping. She is in 10th in the barrel race and ninth for all-around.

Rifle Middle School sixth-grader Dallas Rohrig won second place in the bull riding at Henderson. Rohrig's strong showing moved him up in the statewide rankings to No. 2.

High school and junior high rodeo action continues this weekend with the Friday-Sunday Northwestern Colorado Rodeos at the Eagle County Fairgrounds.
