Carbondale February First Friday: Spread The Love

What: Carbondale’s February First Friday features love note creation stations at The Launchpad and True Nature Healing Arts, a bonfire, hot chocolate, an ice skating rink, live DJs from KDNK Radio and the Bumbu food truck. Love notes will be posted in downtown Carbondale’s red phone booth and KDNK will select a few to read live on air the week leading up to Valentine’s Day.

Ice fishing clinic and snowshoeing at Rifle Gap

What: A community centered event for kids and families to learn about and experience ice fishing. Equipment including fishing gear, snowshoes, and cross country skis will be available for rent free of charge, and entry into Rifle Gap State Park will be covered for the first 20 vehicles. All age groups and experience levels are welcome and there will be a host of volunteers ready to lend a hand. 

When: 9:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8

Honor jazz performance

What: Top jazz students from all over the Western Slope come together to perform and be honored as top talents at Carbondale Middle School.

Hoot at the Ute

What: Enjoy boot-stompin’ tunes with Journey Home Animal Care Center and several musical guests. Featuring Joey Ball, Tyler Rust, Stone Kitchen, Hanna Haupt, Tom Evans and Oran Mor, this night of music at the Ute Theatre in Rifle benefits local homeless animals. 

When: 6-9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8

Ecstatic Dance

What: Take this opportunity to get your blood flowing and body moving with no fear of embarrassment. For two hours you can turn off your brain and let the music take over. There are no steps to follow or mirrors to judge yourself in. It will be led by Alya Howe and DJ’d by Lydia Bain. 

When: 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9

Valentine’s Day chocolate making course

What: A fun and romantic evening learning how to make aphrodisiac chocolates for your significant other. 

When: 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11

Galentine’s at El Dorado

What: Celebrate your favorite ladies in style at El Dorado the night before Valentine’s Day. Galentine’s will be a fun night of specialty cocktails and permanent jewelry from Lily’s Links. 

When: 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13

Valentine’s Day couples climbing 

What: Save 18 dollars and get shoe rentals thrown in for free when buying a couples pass at the Rifle Climbing Center. Throw your cliche Valentine’s Day plans in the trash and get your blood flowing with a climbing date on the 14th. 

When: 12-9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14

Kids night out: Valentine Bash

What: Send the kids to the Glenwood Springs Community Center so you can spend Valentine’s Day with your significant other. With pre-registration, K-5th graders can spend Friday night having a supervised blast at the Community Center. Bounce houses will be blown up in the gym, kids can spend their time in the pool, the game room, the ice rink, doing crafts, watching movies, eating dinner and more. Limited spots are open and Community Center members will receive a discount. 

When: 4:30-9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14
