The Glenwood Springs Community Concert Association has been providing affordable, world-class music to the Roaring Fork Valley since 1947, and the 2024-2025 lineup features five unique performances.

What started as four classical concerts held in an elementary school and the Hotel Colorado has since evolved into a vibrant series that spans multiple genres. Despite changes in the world, the association’s mission remains the same: bringing high-quality music to the valley without the need for residents to travel to larger cities.

“We work hard to offer music to people that they might not otherwise get to experience,” GSCCA president Kathy Kline said. “It’s a chance to enjoy different genres and world-class performances right here in our community.”

Upcoming shows feature a variety of talent, including Jared Freiburg and his Vagabonds on Oct. 8. The concert will showcase hits from the 1950s, with music by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Nayo Jones’ jazz influence will take the stage on Nov. 23. Jeremy Stolle, a veteran of The Phantom of the Opera, will perform Broadway hits on March 8. The Orchid String Quartet, known for performing everything from Mozart to modern tunes, will play on April 2. The season wraps up on May 2 with Jim Witter’s tribute to Billy Joel.

Former GSCCA president Sue Ludtke, who served from 1999 to 2021, spoke fondly of the association’s growth over the years.

“I’m just really glad to see it’s still continuing,” Ludtke said. “We started with classical concerts in the 1940s, and now we bring in all sorts of genres.”

The concerts will take place at either Glenwood Springs High School or Mountain View Church, depending on the date. Three of the concerts will be at the high school, with the November and March shows hosted at the church.

Kline emphasized the importance of these events, especially for the community during the fall, winter, and spring.

“There’s a lot of music available during the summer, but we offer something during the colder months,” Kline said. “It’s a way to come together and enjoy live music.”

Adult memberships cost $60 each and get you tickets to all five performances as well as additional concerts in Grand Junction, Craig and Delta/Montrose. Student memberships cost $15 and $130 for families. Individual concert tickets are available for those who prefer to attend single events.
