Jessica Leigh Hinker was called home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2024 after a hard-fought and courageous battle. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was 39 years young. Jessi was born on March 27, 1985 in Lancaster, CA to Jan and Steve Mauldin. Her family moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado in 1992. She loved camping, the outdoors, the mountains, and everything they had to offer. Jessi graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 2003. On June 26, 2010 Jessi married Dustin Hinker, exchanging vows with the love of her life in the Hotel Colorado courtyard in Glenwood Springs, CO. Jessi was successful and talented as a cosmetologist/hairstylist and microblading expert. In 2018 she started her own business, Edwin Artistry, in honor of her late grandfather, Thomas Edwin. She used her gifts to make others feel beautiful, inside and out. One of the most selfless, kind, caring souls, she touched more hearts than hair.
To her husband, Dustin, Jess was his everything—soulmate, best friend, hero, and greatest blessing. From the moment they met, they knew they would marry each other one day. Jess would say, “When you know, you know.” She was the most amazing, stunning, beautiful bride. They shared a bond that was unbreakable. Built on mutual respect, trust, communication, commitment, and an eternal love for one another. They were blessed with 14 anniversaries, and a very special love for 20 years. Jess’s love for adventure took them on many amazing trips/vacations. She was always celebrating life, with or without an occasion. She was grateful for everyday she was granted. Their journey together was marked by love, laughter and joy. Their love was a testimony to the power of faith and the grace of God. Dustin and Jessi, together, dedicated their lives to Jesus, November 26, 2023, at Impact Church.
Jessi was a fighter—determined, steadfast, and resilient. Her strength was a testimony of her faith in God. Jessi faced challenges daily that most people could never imagine in a lifetime. She fought through every trial and every hardship with the unshakable belief in God’s plan. She always showed up for others. She was always available to anyone, night or day. She was there. She always found a way to love and encourage others to find Jesus. She believed in the power of prayer, the strength of community, and the importance of faith. She was a living example of the verse, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” -2 Corinthians 5:7.
Jessi and her mom, Jan, were best friends since she was born. Jess always included her, in everything she did. Jessi always appreciated how hard her Dad, Steve, worked to support his family. Jessi will always be his baby girl. Her brother, Kalen (Ashley), was her biggest protector, and Jessi was always so proud of the family they created. Her niece and nephew were the light of her life. She loved them as if they were her own. Her niece Ava, “cupcake”, just made her life so much sweeter. Her nephew, Max, always made her so proud. Jessi was their biggest fan. Jessi had a deep love and admiration for her grandparents, Tom and Joyce Smith. After their passing, she held onto them with much strength and tenderness. Memories are what we have to hold on to, they will continue to light our way as we remember the beautiful soul that Jessi was. Jessi’s beloved pups, Raji and Birdi were her boys, her kids, her family. They were constantly making her smile; they would even cry together, but never left her side. Nothing would stop her from taking her boys on a “W”. They brought her so much happiness. The mutual bond and love they shared was something truly special.
Though Jessi’s time on earth was far too short, Jess’s impact was nothing short of inspirational and will carry on forever. She lived life, and started each and every day with a grateful heart. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her, and will inspire generations to come. She leaves behind a world forever changed by her presence, and she will be deeply missed by her Husband Dustin, Mother Jan, Father Steve, Brother Kalen (Ashley), Niece Ava, Nephew Max, and countless other family, friends. We will take comfort in knowing Jessi is with the Lord, pain-free and at peace. We all hope to one day be reunited with her in Heaven.
Jessi is preceded in death by; Vicky and Melvin Mauldin (grandparents), Thomas and Joyce Smith (grandparents), Aunt Linda, and baby Oak.
