John William Scarlett was a loving husband, father, family member and friend. He passed away suddenly at home in New Castle, Colorado on March 30, 2025. He was 77 years old.
John was born March 18, 1948 in Grand Junction, Colorado to parents Ivan and Verda Scarlett. Not long after that the family moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The Valley has been home to John throughout his life.
In 1966, John met the love of his life, Donna Medlock. They were married July 28, 1967. They would have soon celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
John wore many hats throughout his life, working in the timber industry, the ski industry and construction. He finished his career at Glenwood Springs High School where he had many happy memories and made many friends. He was known for his dry sense of humor and love of reading.
John is survived by his wife, Donna Scarlett, and his daughter, Ambra Scarlett.
There will be a celebration of John’s life on Tuesday April 15, 2025 at 11:00am at Farnum Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
Instead of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to either the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the American Heart Association. Both of these are important to the family.
