Walter James “Jim” Roy Jr., 75, passed away on April 3, 2025. Born in Rochester, New York on June 27, 1949, Jim later moved with his family to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where his parents, Walt and Bonnie Roy, opened the Glenwood Bowl—a place that would become central to Jim’s life.

Jim attended Western State University before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. After his service, he returned to Glenwood Springs and joined his family in running Glenwood Bowl. A talented and passionate bowler, Jim also competed on the professional bowling tour for several years.

Beyond bowling, Jim was a dedicated member of the local community. He coached youth OTA baseball and served as an assistant coach for the Glenwood Springs Demon football team. His love for sports extended to golf, and he was a beloved fixture at the Glenwood Springs Golf Club.

Later in life, Jim retired to Florida with his wife, Dorlene, where he enjoyed sunny days, friendly rounds of golf, and a well-earned slower pace of life.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Dorlene, his son Garett, his brothers David and Bob, and his grandson Corso. He will be remembered for his warmth, competitive spirit, sense of humor, and lasting friendships.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim’s memory to the humane society or Amercian Cancer Society.
