Rifle police say three missing juveniles found safe, investigation remains active

Three juveniles who were reported missing Tuesday night in Rifle have been located, according to the Rifle Police Department.
Police had asked for the public’s help Wednesday morning after the juveniles were believed to have been taken by noncustodial family members. They were last seen at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to the department.
The case moved quickly Wednesday morning, Rifle Police Department Public Information Officer Angela Mills said.
“Whenever we’ve got missing kiddos, we’ll get that information out quickly, and so it was a rapidly evolving situation with new information coming in,” Mills said. “Thank goodness, we were able to quickly update that the kids had been brought in.”
Mills said the juveniles were brought to the police department Wednesday morning by someone who had initially been listed as a suspect, though that person has since been removed from the suspect list.
Police are still looking for Wilmer Esau Ramos-Hernandez, who remains outstanding, Mills said. Ramos-Hernandez, 33, is a registered sex offender and has active arrest warrants, according to police.

Mills said the juveniles were not located with Ramos-Hernandez, and police have not yet located him.
Police initially said Ramos-Hernandez was believed to be traveling in a black Ford pickup truck with unknown license plates.
“We have not located him,” Mills said. “We still appreciate the help from the community if they see him to call dispatch.”
Anyone with information about Ramos-Hernandez’s whereabouts is asked to contact dispatch at 970-625-8095 or call 911 if immediate assistance is needed. Police said the investigation remains active.
