Wreaths Across America coming to Linwood Cemetery next weekend
The Capt. Richard Sopris chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is holding their third annual Wreaths Across America at Linwood Cemetery.
The Glenwood Springs High School Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Air Force Cadet Color Guard is presenting the colors at the event.
A wreath will be placed in honor of each branch of the military by a local veteran along the wall next to the lower deck of the entrance of the Doc Holliday trailhead.
After the ceremony, wreaths will be taken up to the grave sites to place on veterans’ graves in an opportunity to remember those who have fallen in battle and honor those who have served in the military.
The Capt. Richard Sopris chapter is interested in expanding the Wreaths Across America ceremony to other cemeteries in Garfield County. If anyone is interested in sponsoring other sites, contact the Regent of the chapter, Mary Miller Ball at captainrichardsoprisregent@coloradodar.org.
