Friday letters: Trump supporters weigh in on election, River Bridge thanks and more

‘Good luck in your new country’

I was interested if the housing market in Colorado has been flooded with new listings due to the election result. I say this because the hand puppets for the democrats like the main-stream media and the other experts like Oprah, Taylor and Travis Swift, Whoopie and her group of political experts on The View, and of course the all-knowing local experts that grace us with their letters to the editor, told us all we needed to know about Trump.

These experts said that Trump is the second coming of Hitler, Nero, a fascist dictator. Another local expert stated, “liars like Trump and Vance” and am sure anyone else that doesn’t agree with him should be arrested for their “lies.”

If these experts actually believe the load that they shoved down our throats, then a blue state like Colorado will be one of the first sites for the new Trump death camps, gas chambers, and execution compounds. It will be Nazi Germany all over again according to these people.

If I were a left-wing liberal expert I would leave the country immediately. These people would have to be crazy to stay in America if they truly believed any of the junk they continue to pass off as the truth.

The fact is that being lied to on a daily basis by the media about crime, inflation, and poll numbers does not resonate with the majority of voters. The majority of voters don’t like being called stupid, racist, uneducated, because they have a different opinion. The majority of voters are not in favor of the mass illegal crossings at the border or being told if they don’t agree with children getting sex change operations that they are terrible people.

In closing, I say to all those folks leaving America, good luck in your new country, and like the phrase goes, don’t let the door hit you in the rear.

From abandoned to the forefront

This Veteran’s Day was especially sweet for our family. My father, who served in the Army in Vietnam, had a new pep in his step. He got to cheer on the landslide victory of President-elect Trump, that he knows by his actions, loves the troops.

Having served with some who never made it home, my dad has seen their sacrifice be at best forgotten and at worst disrespected by the Biden/Harris administration. He and most Americans were aghast at Biden abandoning 13 soldiers in Afghanistan to die in a purely political withdrawal that looked to be carried out by “Sesame Street” commanders. When those caskets came home, Biden couldn’t be bothered to show respect as he kept looking at his watch. The abandonment of the common soldier by Democrats is pervasive and widely known by the military. That is why Trump received almost 70% of military votes. Veterans overwhelmingly vote Republican and have for decades.

While the media runs cover for the Democrat party with things like; he’s Hitler, he’s a Nazi, he’s a white nationalist; the working-class veteran and soldier not only see it differently but feel the difference. The rest of us see it too. The media and the left say one thing, but we see the opposite. Some call it gaslighting by the left, and it may be. But where I am from, we just call it lying. You can say something a million times, but when we see the opposite in someone’s actions, that is worth more than a million empty words.

While some wring their hands and believe that the sky is falling because their side lost, the rest of us celebrate a pro military and pro working-class President being elected, again. We can’t do anything to alleviate your fears that a predatory, fear mongering media message probably fostered. What we can do is work to make our country better for every American. I think we started that already by electing a president that has and will bring our soldiers & veterans to the forefront after being abandoned.

Library board ‘should work cooperatively with the county commissioners’

There seems to be continuing controversy brewing over who has the authority to appoint and reappoint members of the Garfield County Library District Board. The Library District is a taxing entity, and needs to have accountability to the voters in some fashion. I know of no entity which has the authority to receive and spend public funds that also has the authority to reappoint its own members.

Either the Board Members should be required to stand for election each term (which I am sure they would not want to do) or they should work cooperatively with the County Commissioners in advertising vacancies, interviewing candidates, and having the County Commissioners (who have to stand for election every four years) formally appoint the member. This is the only way in which the District Board can remain accountable to the citizens who are taxed to support it.

‘Make Colorado great again’

This is just a reminder to those who voted in favor of the National Electoral Popular Vote Compact in 2020. Proposition 113 would allot Colorado’s electoral votes to the winner of the Presidential popular vote. Though the problems with this are manifest in relation to the power of your individual vote in Colorado, more obviously the electoral vote in Colorado vote is subjugated to the parochial wishes of the population centers of the country. But I guess that it is not all bad. After all, with the popular vote majority won by Donald Trump, if Trump received our electoral votes, perhaps we could “Make Colorado Great Again.”

River Center provides invaluable assistance to community members

I recently had the opportunity to volunteer with the River Center during their Bingo Night, an event that deepened my appreciation for the critical role this organization plays in our community. The River Center, a local nonprofit, offers vital assistance with medical bills, housing, and food access for families facing financial difficulties. At the event, I joined a group of dedicated volunteers, raising funds and connecting with community members who share a commitment to uplifting one another during challenging times.

The evening was filled with fun and laughter, as attendees dressed up in Halloween costumes and gathered to enjoy the Bingo games. Watching the lively group play was so entertaining that I wanted to join in. The event brought together people of all ages, united in support of a great cause. Volunteers, from organizing the concession stand to managing bingo cards, worked tirelessly to make the night memorable.

The River Center not only provides practical support but also fosters a spirit of resilience, solidarity, and joy in our community. This experience underscored the importance of local nonprofits as lifelines that offer more than just resources — they create a sense of belonging. I encourage everyone to find ways to support them — whether through volunteering, donations, or simply attending events. Organizations like the River Center provide a lifeline for many, and I encourage everyone to support them — whether by volunteering, donating, or attending events. Small acts of service help sustain these invaluable community resources and strengthen our sense of unity. These small acts of service sustain invaluable resources for our neighbors and strengthen our community as a whole. Together, by supporting one another, we build a more compassionate and connected community for everyone.
